Methodology

This index scores tech companies on the general fairness of their standard employment agreements based on:

  • Analysis of employment agreements submitted to Dott’s platform
  • Publicly available information including SEC filings, news reports, and employee accounts
  • Professional experience of Dott’s legal team reviewing agreements at Gunderson Dettmer, DLA Piper, and Microsoft Legal
  • State-specific employment law (notably California’s prohibition on non-compete agreements)

Scores are general assessments reflecting patterns across multiple data points. Individual agreements vary significantly based on role, level, negotiation, and timing. This index does not constitute legal advice.
